SAFER Grant and Volunteers

[caption id="attachment_11541" align="alignleft" width="300"] Chief Barry McRoy[/caption] With Department of Homeland Security SAFER proceeds, the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association has been pleased to financially assist fire departments to provide training, fitness for duty physicals, and personal protective equipment for new volunteer firefighters in the following counties: New volunteer firefighters in these counties can be funded through this SAFER program. Time is of the essence with the grant closing in early September. Local agencies without budgeted funds for adding volunteer firefighters, may utilize grant proceeds for the costs of training, fitness for duty physicals, and head-to-toe structural personal protective equipment. Fire service leaders in these counties are encouraged to contact bryan@scfirefighters.org for inclusion in this grant.
